Meet the Wanderer

Dear Readers,

Hi! I’m Calen. Welcome to my Travel Blog.

If you’re anything like me, you like to follow your bliss a and do things that feel good and aligned. For me, that’s travel. If you’re like me, you don’t want to wait around for the “perfect opportunity” to do so.

I’ve decided to follow my bliss– follow my passion– now. I don’t want to break my back working three different jobs so that I can save up enough money to travel for one summer, and then return only to jump back into the cycle. I don’t want to spend nine months out of the year doing something that doesn’t light my heart on fire, just so I can be financially secure for the 3 when I get to travel. Are you picking up what I’m laying down?

I’ve done things a little differently than most of my peers. Instead of going straight to college, I decided to spend a year abroad in Chile as an exchange student and explore different countries. After that, I came back to the states to become a certified Yoga Teacher. I have been dreaming, working, and planning ever since.

In 2016, I got discouraged by the world and all of its madness. I wanted to know that there was still good in the world… good people, safe places, and energy currency. So I decided to travel with almost no money. My trip from Virginia to Hawaii showed me a handful of things. I’ll share the two most important ones with you.

First: You can follow your bliss now or at any time. You just have to make the decision and put in the work.

Second: People are (or can be) good. Kindness is alive. That gives you the power to travel the world for free!

If I can travel the country relying on intuition, hard-work, motivation, and the goodwill of others, you can do the same. You only have to learn a few how-to tricks.

I travel with little to no money. I am here to show you how you can do the same. I’m here to share my adventures, mistakes, lessons, and findings with you. I’m here to listen and inspire. No matter why you’re here, I’m glad that you are.

Happy Traveling!
