Veganism is a social justice movement that compels us to reject speciesism and be harmoniously with the beyond-human world.

Welcome to Unruly Eating + Veganism.

Here we’ll explore the intersections between veganism and travel, as well as veganism and other social justice issues such as sexism, capitalism, colonialism, racism, and more.

Let’s clarify one thing up front: veganism is a social justice movement, not a diet. While it does ask you to change your diet, veganism is a practice of dismantling one’s speciesism with the goal of causing the least amount of harm to our nonhuman kin as humanly possible. If you’re new to veganism, take your coat off and stay a while. The more that you study this movement through my podcast episodes, blogposts, and videos, you’ll realize that the practice of veganism benefits nonhuman animals as well as human animals (us!). If you’re a long-time vegan, take a moment to view the movement through an unruly lens.

I hope that what I offer to you is a reminder that we’re all just animals here – human or beyond – and deserve bodily autonomy, a natural and healthy environment, and the right to a joyous existence.

In this interview I get to sit down with an incredible activist who rescued dogs from China, straight out of a slaughterhouse. She was then arrested and held in jail for these actions.
